Was Re: Musicians and EVs; now Wah-wah Potbox
The schematic I built (Craig Anderton, Electronic
Projects for Musicians) uses (2) 100K pots in stereo.
The standard resistance for an EV is a 5K. A wah wah
pedal is controlled either by pulley, or hall-effect
(electromagnetic) sensor, such as in the Boss line.
One pitfall is that these mechanisms don't snap back
to "off"; a serious problem in EVs! (which could be
remedied with a spring, of course). The next is
availability of a microswitch shutoff. Ernie Ball
pedals were about $50 when I last purchased, about $15
less than a regular potbox, I believe. But you're
right, it's fun to think about!
